Introduction

Copyright and intellectual property rights are a huge subject. So, for practical reasons, this page is limited to answering some of the most common questions that people ask when they purchase or use our resources and we've put these into an FAQ format for ease of reference.

If you have any other questions that you think should be answered here, or you are pondering a difficult question about using our resources, please contact us

The most important point about purchasing and using our publications is that TetraMap International Limited owns the copyright on all of them. All rights are reserved.

If you want to find out about copyright and intellectual property rights in more detail, a good place to start is to contact your own national intellectual property organisation. These organisations will usually have a website.

Frequently Asked Questions

We've broken our FAQs into two parts: one section for those who purchase and use our resources in the course of their commercial activities Professional Users of our Resources and the other for those who are introduced to our resources during training, or who might buy some of our resources out of private interest Other Users of Our Resources

Professional Users of Our Resources

Q. I will be facilitating a workshop using TetraMap International’s resources. However, I notice that I don’t have enough Workbook copies for all participants. Can I photocopy some of the pages in the Workbooks to distribute to additional participants?
A.  We do not permit photocopying of Workbook materials under any circumstance. If you copy our resources it means that we don't get to share in the value of our own work! If you are going to be short of Workbooks, please order some more, or contact us if it is an urgent need so that we can discuss how best to help you.

Q. If I don’t have enough Workbooks to cover all participants in my workshop, could I allow some of them to share Workbooks between them?

A. It is important to us that individuals using our materials have a quality experience as they explore the TetraMap® model. If you share or re-use Workbooks, this detracts from that experience, and it prevents you from returning a completed instrument for every workshop participant. It also means that again, we don't share in the value of our work. Please order more Workbook copies for your workshop, or if it is an urgent need, please contact us so that we can discuss how best to help you.

Q. Can I scan or copy any of TetraMap’s resources to, or store them on a computer?

A.  Not unless you obtain our permission in writing first. There are a couple of exceptions:

Firstly, some elements of our Participant Materials Preview Pack are provided via download. You may share these materials with other decision-makers in your own organisation only.

Secondly, our Why Are You Like That and TetraMap CD Resources products include a CD-Rom. This is intended for your individual use, to support your facilitated training. You may save files from this CD-Rom to your own computer for your own use during training sessions.

Q. The TetraMap® model is an important element of the training that I facilitate. I’d like to write about it, or mention it in a presentation I am making. Can I do that?

A. Of course, and we’d be delighted but the word TetraMap is trademarked in a number of countries, so:

  • if you use the trademark TetraMap® in any heading, you must include the registered trademark symbol and the statement “TetraMap® is a registered trademark of TetraMap International in NZ and other countries, see www.tetramap.com”;
  • you may not use the trademark TetraMap® in the main title or heading of a workshop, presentation, handout or other document that you create, as this may create the perception that TetraMap International Limited created your material (or is paying you to run the workshop). However, you are welcome to use the terms Four Elements or Why Are You Like That?, and you may use the word TetraMap® in subheadings and descriptive text.
Q. I’ve read these FAQs and I have a question concerning your intellectual property that isn’t covered by them. What should I do?

A.  Please contact us with your question .

Other Users of our Resources

Q. I have bought one of TetraMap’s publications. Does copyright have any relevance for me?

A. Yes, because owners of copyright material continue to have control over it in various ways, even after the material has been bought by someone. Just one of the controls on its use is that you may not copy it in any way (for example, by photocopying or scanning it) without the prior written permission of the copyright owners. In the case of our resources and publications, that's us!

Q. I have been given a TetraMap® Workbook during a training workshop.  It contains a questionnaire (or instrument) which is interesting and I’d like to share it. Can I take just one or two copies to do that?

A.  Absolutely not! We would view that as an infringement of our copyright, but:

  •  if you are interested in sharing the TetraMap® model with others, talk to your Training Manager or mention this to your Training Facilitator, as further copies or Workbooks will be needed. This will ensure that the original authors of this material will also get to share in the benefits of their work!
  • if you’ve received your copy through a facilitated training session, it’s also important that your training facilitator collects a completed instrument for all participants and returns it to us.
  • in any other circumstance, please contact us so that we can discuss how we can help you.

Q. I have enjoyed the TetraMap® experience and I’d like to write about it, or mention it in a presentation I am making. Can I do that?

A. Of course, and we’d be delighted but the word TetraMap® is trademarked in a number of countries, so:

  • if you use the word TetraMap® in any heading, you must include the registered trademark symbol and the statement “TetraMap is a registered trademark of TetraMap International, see www.tetramap.com.”
  • you may not use it in the main title or heading of a workshop, presentation, handout or other document that you create, as this may create the perception that TetraMap International Limited created your material (or is paying you to run the workshop).
